VFW AL
2006 Election

Audio Forums

These neutral, non-partisan, not-for-profit forums are part of  an ongoing effort to engage our membership, our deployed military community and our state's voters in the democratic process .

The Department of Alabama will be asking questions of the Candidates on behalf of our membership over the course of the 2006 Mid-Term Elections.

Candidates are asked to take the oppurtunity to personally reply via phone to the following questions.

1.  Do you favor full and mandatory funding of the VA Health Care System, and what actions do you plan to take if elected/reelected to make sure that full funding is available?

2.  If elected/reelected will you work to enact a new GI Bill for the 21st Century that covers the full costs of tuition, fees, and living-costs for veterans?

3.  What actions will you take to make sure that veterans' fees are not raised for use of the VA Health Care System, and that fees and deductible amounts in the TRICARE system for military retirees are not raised?

4.  Do you favor ensuring that VA's disability compensation program is preserved in its present form to protect the needs of current and future veterans and will you work to make sure it is preserved if you are elected/reelected?

5.  Do you favor ensuring that Congress enacts legislation that authorizes and fully funds legislation allowing all disabled military retirees to receive their full military retirement pay and full disability compensation without offset, and will you work for, and vote for such legislation?
