Welcome to the world of blogging.

Do you have any clue what you’re in for?

    Hello Mr. Davis,

Remember me? You told me in an email last year to “Go to hell”. Yep, that was your exact words. The entire email consisted of only those 3 words, “GO TO HELL”.

That wasn’t very nice was it? I’ve tried to give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe those were the only three words that you knew at the time, but since, I have heard you utter other words. So, I must conclude that you really meant them.

Well, I didn’t go to hell, nor does it look as if I’ll be going there at least in the immediate future. I will surmise that you will see Hell long before I ever do.

    Have a nice day

    Bruce,

Blogging is uncharted territory among the commissioners.

If you start making a regular habit of posting, you could make a strong impression–a positive one, a negative one, or a healthy mixture of both, depending on who’s reading.

A few pieces of advice: 1) use it to let people get to know you as a person; 2) use it to express and clarify your positions, your actions, your words, your ideas, etc.; 3) post at least once a week; 4) respond to all reasonable comments, even if they are critical of you or question your judgement; 5) don’t be afraid of initial low readership or criticism; 6) ask other bloggers for advice; 7) check out Sandy Carmany’s blog for an amazing example of how it can be done well–go to www.sandycarmany.blogspot.com; 8) visit www.greensboro101.com to see what local bloggers are talking about; 9) visit other people’s blogs and post comments in response to what they’re discussin; 10) be yourself.

Best wishes, and I hope you’re here to stay (as a blogger)!

    Hardy

Bruce,Two other things:1) it is common courtesy to refer to another blogger by his or her first name–we’re all on the same level, though I definitely recognize and respect that you are an elected official and 2) the smiley face was an accident–it came from typing an “8″ followed by a “)”.I’m hoping that typing the following three marks (”") allows me to insert paragraph breaks.Otherwise, the marks may just show up and look funny.Have a great Wednesday.Hardy

    Mr. Davis,

Greetings, I am Calvin F. Williams, Jr., past SGA President of North Carolina A&T and current entrepreneur and resident of Greensboro. I would have emailed this but I do not know your email address, so please forgive me.

As an African American male in a leadership position in Greensboro, I would truly apprecaite if you would return to blogging and take a position in our community. It would truly show my viewers (over 13k a month and over 140 members) that we have excellent African American leadership to look up to and get involved with.

Thank you for your time and I hope you read this.

I’m with Roch. Especially informative was all of the information provided the raises that were inadvertantly granted. I’m much more informed now.

But seriously Bruce - are you still there? Calvin Williams has written you a personal appeal. Read it here: http://calvinwilliamsjr.com/blog/?p=884

    Calvin,
Thanks for stepping up to the challenge and taking a leadership role in our community. I’m encouraged by the enthusiasm that you seem to possess concerning the role of the Black elected officials. Those who have a voice and do not use it for the uplifting of his people have failed himself and the community. This points towards one of my leading principles and core values-commitment.
